The Opera USB: Go Anonymous, Go Portable!

I am a big fan of portable PC applications as they leave your computers clog-free. No installations of any sort, no eating up much system resources; just extract and run from the folder. Today I am sharing with you the Opera USB browser- fast (comes with the Opera Turbo feature), light and on point!

It comes handy when you really need to visit those websites that have been blocked off your network by administrative rights; it gives you the anonymity that delivers these pages at your door steps. Simply extract the files from the zip folder and carry your browser with you wherever you go. Download from the link below.

The Forbidden Apple: From China With Love!

Ok, this is some bizarre (but true) news coming straight out of China. A teenage girl did the unthinkable by offering her ‘priceless’ virginity on Weibo (Chinese version of Twitter), posting a photo of herself along with some personal information for anyone that is willing to give her an iPhone 4 in return.

Some responders told the teen the iPhone wasn't worth her virginity, while others told her to wait for the iPhone 5, which could be out as early as September and may pack an 8-megapixel camera.

Text Messaging Service May Die Out Soon!

With the emergence of other instant messaging services now available on smartphones and tablets, the Short Messaging Service (SMS) may well be on its way to fading off the scene.

Research In Motion's BlackBerry Messenger smartphone app, often cited as the leading communication method, is one example of the SMS-killing service. So also, other messaging apps like Whatsapp, Kik, and Apple's upcoming iMessage for iOS, are growing almost daily.

The New Nokia 110 And 112 Dual-SIM Phones!

Nokia is definitely a force to reckon with in the smartphones world of today, but they definitely are not losing sight of their low end customers with the launch of their new Nokia 110 and Nokia 112 dual-SIM phones. The phones are all about being social, with direct access to Facebook and Twitter from the home screen, and the eBuddy IM service preloaded.

They may not be the ideal hardwares for viewing HD movies, but are likely adequate to pass for viewing the shots taken with the VGA camera. Talking about a stripped-down phone with prices to match; the 110 landing at around 35€ and the 112 just three euros more.

Symbian Belle for 35€? Make I go wash my eyes abeg...

Twitter Hacked!

Twitter was hit with a massive hack on Wednesday as some 50,000 user names and passwords were posted to the internet. This leak spanned five pages on Pastebin, a site where hackers post illegal files and hacks.

Twitter claims a major part of this information appears to be garbage (really?), in which there are many duplicates, some belonging to suspended spammers, and those that are believed to be fake accounts generated by robots.

The iPad Not For Humans Only!

If you think humans are the only beings that love gadgets then you better think again! At a zoo in Miami (the Jungle Island), the handlers are using the iPad to communicate with orangutans.

The apes use the tablet to express their wants and needs by identifying the items they are familiar with on the screen. This is done primarily through an app designed for children affected with autism that displays an array of images on screen.

Safely Remove USB Drives By Just Unplugging Them!

Over time we have become so conditioned to go through a few clicks before being assured we are disconnecting our USB devices safely.

Theoretically, this process is necessary to ensure that Windows is not busy reading or writing onto the device before disconnecting it, which can result in data loss or, in some cases, damage to the device!

FBI Wants An Ear On Social Networking Sites!

The Federal Bureau of Intelligence (FBI) is pushing for a law that will make them wiretap into social networking sites as well as other peer-to-peer services.

There has been the 1994's Communications Assistance to Law Enforcement Act (CALEA) that gives the law enforcement agency a direct back-door access to users' data during warranted investigations just as they began with carriers in 1994 and expanded to broadband providers in 2004.

Windows 8: This Is What It Looks Like!

Love it or hate it, Microsoft has taken a huge leap with this OS. Gone are the days of boring interfaces with annoying rigidity. Better days are here for sure. I don't know which side of the bed Microsoft woke up on when they thought this up but it definitely makes a whole lot of sense. Although there's been some little complaints here and there, but don't worry y'all will get used to this one in no time. In my opinion, I think it's a laudable change.
