Behind the grammar, Google Drive is basically a repackaged Google Docs sent into the clouds! You can store your documents, photos, music, videos, etc. all in one place.
It syncs with your mobile devices and your computer, so if you make a change from one gadget, it will automatically show up if you were to access it elsewhere. It also tracks changes you make on-the-go (but always push the 'Save' button!).
Google faces competition not just from cloud companies such as Box and Dropbox, but from Apple, Microsoft and Amazon as well. But they have taken a huge leap towards the top with their whooping 5Gb free initial data storage and the concept of a local client that can just sit there on your computer and seamlessly sync your data to the cloud.
You'll need a Google account to run this. Here is how it works; you get to download the local Google Drive client that will then keep your files synced between your local PC and your cloud-based Google Drive (app presently runs on Windows, Mac, and Android devices- iOS support coming soon).
Should you run out of the initial free 5GB storage space, Google offers a way to purchase storage space shared across Google Drive and Picasa Web Albums.
